Scotland’s Aberdeen International Airport is poised for a route boost as Loganair intends to resume services to Oslo Norway.

From June 13, the airline intends to operate the year-round connection to the Norwegian capital initially on a five-weekly basis (encompassing a daily service except on Wednesdays and Saturdays); rotations are then touted to increase to six-weekly from September 7 thanks to the introduction of a Wednesday link.

The rotations, plied by Loganair’s 13-strong, 49-seat Embraer ERJ145s – pictured – is scheduled to depart Aberdeen on weekdays at 08:30hrs local time, with a 11:05hrs arrival into Oslo. On the return leg, the flight departs the Scandinavian hub at 11:40hrs, arriving back in Scotland at 12:20hrs local. Meanwhile, times on Sundays will differ, for instance they would leave Aberdeen and Oslo at 13:30hrs and 16:40hrs, respectively (both local times).

Jonathan Hinkles, Loganair’s chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to be adding Oslo flights at Loganair’s Aberdeen hub, restoring connectivity to the Norwegian capital for both business and leisure travellers. It’s an important and long-standing route at Aberdeen, and one which we’re pleased to step into following the cutbacks which other airlines have understandably made during the pandemic.

He added: “Together with the new Oslo route, Loganair’s expansion at Aberdeen will see us offering our largest-ever schedule in summer 2022…”

Loganair already serves Norway from Edinburgh, Newcastle and Sumburgh.

The latest move will further bolster Loganair’s position as Aberdeen’s largest airline operator. With the addition of Oslo, 14 destinations will be served including Birmingham, Newquay, Norwich, Southampton and Teesside.

Glasgow-based Loganair recently celebrated its 60th anniversary on February 1. At the time of writing, it has an impressive domestic network spanning 34 UK airports while operating a fleet of 43 aircraft.
