Niger, Djibouti become Africa's latest Bayraktar TB2 operators

Niger and Djibouti have become the most recent nations to receive Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat air vehicles (UCAVs), becoming the fourth and fifth African nations to operate the increasingly popular UCAV. The Niger Air Force received six Bayraktar TB2s in early June, shortly before the Djiboutian Air Force received two examples. The Nigerien government said the type’s original equipment manufacturer, Baykar Makina, would also supply several Roketsan Cirit laser-guided 70mm air-to-ground missiles as part of the TB2 weapons package.
