ADEX 2023: KAI eyes development of new Surion variants for South Korea

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is close to completing the production of more than 200 KUH-1 Surion helicopters for the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA), but the firm’s focus is now on designing two new variants: the Marine Attack Helicopter (MAH) and Mine Countermeasures Helicopter (MCH). Initial prototypes of both the MAH and MCH should appear in 2024, with the former programme slightly ahead given that KAI received its development contract on October 27, 2022 – two months earlier than that
