The Mount Hope Ontario-based Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum has acquired a third airworthy de Havilland Tiger Moth

The biplane – CF-GTU, RCAF 4319 – was ferried to the museum by Rick Rickards.

Some 40 Tiger Moths remain airworthy in Canada. The museum's example was built at Downsview, Ontario in 1940 and was taken on strength by the RCAF on December 7, 1940. It first served with No.8 Elementary Flying Training School before moving on to two others. Withdrawn on September 25, 1945, it was then given to the Royal Canadian Flying Club Association with whom it acquired its current civil registration. It had numerous different owners in Ontario, one of whom operated it on floats, before eventually reaching Hannu Halminen who flew it for several years before donating it to the museum.
