D-Day Douglas C-47A for Boscombe Down Aviation Collection

In mid-March 2022, the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection (BDAC) at Old Sarum in Salisbury took delivery of the surviving nose section of Douglas C-47A-25-DK 42-93510.Rolling out of Douglas’ Oklahoma City factory in early 1944, 42-93510 was accepted by the USAAF on May 27 that year. Assigned to the Ninth Air Force the following month, the aircraft was soon in action supporting the Allied advance across Europe – including seeing action during D-Day.The nose section of C-47A-25-DK 42-93510 on display at
