JetBlue submits “superior” bid to buy Spirit Airlines
New York-based carrier JetBlue Airways has announced its intention to acquire low-cost rival Spirit Airlines in a deal worth $3.6bn. The company says its bid is a “superior proposal” compared to Spirit’s existing merger agreement – announced in February – with Denver-based Frontier Airlines that is expected to result in the creation of America’s largest ultra-low fare operator.
