The largest display hall at Sweden’s Flygvapenmuseum based near Linköping, reopened to the public on June 16 following three years of refurbishment

A new exhibition at the attraction covers the period from 1900 until the early 1950s. It includes Sweden’s first military aircraft, a Swedish-built copy of a French Blériot generally known as ‘Brewer’s Cart’ which served from 1912.

Among other key exhibits is the world’s only surviving Saab B 18B. Salvaged from the seabed following a 1946 accident, it’s been fully restored to static display condition. Examples of a North American Harvard, Saab Safir and a Norseman ambulance aircraft have also been added to the list of airframes on display. The next phase, beginning this autumn, will see the museum’s Cold War exhibition upgraded. With thanks to Lennart Berns
