Un vídeo que circula por las redes sociales confirma que el único Antonov An-225 del mundo fue destruido durante los combates en el aeropuerto de Gostomel cerca de Kiev (Ucrania).

El vídeo, no verificado, fue grabado el 25 o el 26 de febrero y muestra el característico edificio del hangar con los daños que se ven en las imágenes aéreas por satélite.

Debajo, el morro a rayas amarillas y azules del gigante de seis motores puede distinguirse entre el humo que sale del edificio.

El fabricante Antonov ha respondido al vídeo en Twitter diciendo: "NO, NO, NO" y pidiendo a la gente que "espere a los anuncios oficiales sobre el estado del avión".

It's not clear how much damage has been caused, but Ukrainian state defence company Ukroboronprom said in a statement: "Mriya will definitely be reborn."

The firm estimates the restoration of the aircraft will cost more than $3bn and take over five years.

"Our task is to ensure that these costs are covered by the Russian Federation, which has caused intentional damage to Ukraine’s aviation and the air cargo sector," the statement added.
