The TV news is saying they were an hour into the flight, I take it this means they were conducting a survey at the time ? You can drive between Cumbernauld and the crash site in less than an hour ?

I believe they were carrying out a pipeline survey, which are carried out on a very regular basis. In the ‘old’ days the crews used to stop off at Longside for a coffee, chat and some fuel. I used to in awe of these guys – one hell of a job thats for sure.
Sadly found out tonight that the pilot was an ex-colleague of my father’s from many moons ago. A superb bloke according to the ‘war’ stories I’ve heard tonight.
