I can still recall a very embarrassing moment for the Health Minister who was due to fly from one of the Island Served by the helicopter, but couldn’t , because The helicopter was grounded due to bad weather 😮

Yes the helicopter was on a proving and goodwill flight to the Outer Hebrides in an attempt to placate locals concerned with the chopper’s ability to operate in inclement weather (the norm out there).

It made it out there ok, but had to spend an extra night waiting for the wind to die down sufficiently to make the return flight safely. Not much use in an emergency situation I’d have thought, but hey ho, the powers that be awarded Gama Aviation the Scottish Air Ambulance contract anyhow… :confused:
