Yes, they don’t last long there. This is the third one I know of that died at Marathon, or in the sea nearby. I flew N89B there in about 1990. That one went on it’s back during pre-flight power checks, presumably the pilot didn’t have the stick hard enough. Its replacement ditched in the sea after running out of fuel. The latest apparently had engine problems and had to ditch. It will be interesting to see the accident report.
As a matter of interest, they have a WACO UPF-7 at Key West that’s being giving joy-rides since at least the 1980’s and, to my knowledge, hasn’t been damaged at all.
