Ok, just a quick question I thought I would post up on this thread as its kind of related…its to do with pre-assigned seating!

Who here uses the airline’s website to check-in online and pre-assign their seat, and how would you feel if you got to the airport on the day of departure to find out that you had been moved from the seat/s that you had previously chosen?

The reason I ask is because in my line of work I have to pre-assign seats for passengers booked on flights up to 3 days in advance of the date of travel, but say I can’t sit a couple or a group of passengers together because they booked later than everyone else, I have been instructed to move other passengers around the aircraft (even if they have already pre-assigned a seat!) in order to be able to accommodate the couple/group together…?

Whilst I do what is expected of me at work, I don’t feel comfortable about this particular practice because from a passengers perspective, I would personally be fairly annoyed if I found out I had been moved from one-seat to another (unless it was an upgrade of course!:D) without prior notification and/or valid explanation.

My way of thinking is similar to that of low-cost airlines…the later you book and/or check-in online, the less choice of seats you have…and also you run the risk of not being sat next to someone who you are travelling with, or am I just mixing up my own personal preferences with the role of my job?:confused:
