The TVAL collection is back in operation, although it only displays at Masterton (there used to also be limited displays at Omaka Airshows). The pilots practice once a month during summer (with limited public viewing), and display bi-annually at the Wings Over Wairarapa airshow. Unfortunately weather prevented any displays for them at the 2023 show. But 2021 was great! Sadly the show will not happen in 2025, due to dealing with a delayed show (due to nearby floods) and a weather-cancelled day.

What happened to Peter Jackson’s TVAL?, I hadn’t heard anything about that. What a great pity.

They seem to have plenty of warbirds, possibly the highest per capita of anywhere. 🙂  🙂

Currently under-going a net outflow. Have lost  in last couple of years Mustang, P-40, Spitfire, P-40, Mustang. Catalina and Anson for sale. Good to have the Corsair back flying (not allowed to be exported), multiple P-40 and Yak projects underway.

LOL imagine us poor people in Australia!

While I appreciate the rarity of a Mk.I, UK Spitfire fans shouldn’t be too greedy about wanting it to return.

After all the UK had a much higher percentage of the type by number as well as per capita and in proximity than the US or Canada could ever hope to have.

I dare say any UK citizen wishing to would not have to travel very far (200 miles or a four hour drive) to see one. Not so in North America. 🙂

Possibly yes…There were two or three MkI,s that came out at about the same time so hard to keep track.

It was flying around for a couple of years after the rebuild.  Pretty sure it’s even in the Spitfire documentary from 2018.

Hasn’t been in the UK for a while now as far as I know.

Here’s hoping it will stay in the UK and fly regularly .
