The only place Legends will work 100% is Duxford, Duxford obviously do not want a private company running their event on the premises.

To move TFC to another location would I am sure see its demise. The big hangar by the M11 at North Wealds southern end would be perfect and I believe OFMC looked into that back in the 90s. again, moving staff etc is a pain and NW cant hold huge airshows any more.

Imagine ARCO and TFC movinng out of Duxford. the place would die.

To avion ancien: How about the cost of flying dozens of extremely thirsty piston-engined fighters 100 miles or so each way before you even think about the displays. Then there’s the requirement for a pilot for each aeroplane, rather than one person being able to fly several aircraft during the course of the weekend. Presumably accommodation costs too, although that may have applied to Duxford anyway.

The same with Scampton. I’ve never believed it could be financially viable for TFC anywhere other than Duxford.

  I still think that Scampton was a perfect choice IMHO. Well I say that was before somebody in the government decided it would be a good idea to house illegals on it’s runways.

Still it’s a very sad state of affairs that possibly the leading European air display operators has been forced to go from airfield to airfield to organise a display for enthusiasts like us to marvel at. :- (
