I recently bought from an antique shop, an avionic box with a hand written label stating it to be a LANCASTER RADAR UNIT.
The data plate reads ‘TRANSMITTER RECEIVER, Type TR 3151A. Ref No 10DB811, Serial No XR126283.
Interestingly I find it is actually one of the units that make up the Airborne Interception Radar AI VIII fitted to Mosquito and Beaufighter night fighters, on a Mosquito it would sit on a rack in the nose immediately behind the scanner, not sure where on a Beau.
I cannot find much about this item and Googling only brings up one image of it installed in a Mosquito, but it’s not exactly the same and is described as being a AI VIIIB not a A.
Does anyone have any information on this or where I can find out more.
