Does anyone have an information about the crash of Auster V G-AJIL, which crashed at the renowned Col de Tourmalet (above la Mongie), in the French Pyrénées, on 13 April 1947, during that year’s Tour de France (the first postwar)? From photographs that I have seen it may have been engaged on a publicity or newspaper coverage flight during the Tour de France.

I’m now aware that this subject has been raised on this forum before, back in 2010/11 (q.v. https://www.key.aero/forum/historic-aviation/103941-auster-crash-1947). That identifies the pilot as Georges de Seversky but does not give any details of the crash, other than that he was flying for L’Equipe (a French sports newspaper) when it occurred.
