Seeking Westland Wasp engineering information

Hi, I’m interested in the design and engineering of the Royal Navy’s Leander Class frigates and their amazing Westland Wasp helicopters. In trying to understand how a Wasp is put together I’m trying to find a copy of several of the Wasp’s engineering manuals, particularly:

  • Wasp HAS Mk1 Schedule of spare parts, Air Publication 101C-0601-3A
  • Maintenance manual AP 101C-0601-1A

Does anyone have or know where I can get a copy of these or a museum / archive that holds these documents that are accessible to the public? If not a Wasp, then I suspect a Scout manual will also have a significant overlap.

Also, are there any other Air Publications I should be looking for which might be useful to gain a good understanding of their construction and operation? Note that I’ve already got a copy of the pilot operating notes.

Many thanks,

Peter.

Hi Terry, thanks for replying. I’m currently trawling through all the possible places I think might have a copy but I suspect answers will vary from the public not being able to look, or £££ for copies. But I’m stubborn so will keep digging! Thanks very much for the offer, my email is peter underscore goodman at hotmail dot com. Thanks again, really appreciate it. Pete.

Peter,

I have AP101C-0701-3A (Book 1 only) for the Scout but due to our low number of posts we cannot use the private message facility.

I am afraid I am not prepared to but my email address on this open access forum. If you are prepared to put up an email address then I could send it to you by file transfer as a pdf file. Its much too big to attach here! I hope that is of some help. There is one Wasp/Scout active at least isn’t there, they must have the books.

Terry
