DORNIER DO-17 HENDON

The search function on this forum now is rubbish so I apologise, I know a thread already exists on this subject but where!

Anyway, what I was going to ask is, what is the latest situation on the preservation and display of this airframe, did the chemical treatment stabilise the corrosion, is work being done on making it a viable display object, I havnt seen anything for some years now.

What inspired me to ask is that I have just watched the film of the Hendon Halifax recovery, personally I would like that aircraft getting the full restoration it deserves.

Oh that’s a shame, I was hoping this was a news item that the Do-17 was going to be moved to Hendon. Although I would just be happy to see it fully conserved and placed on public display.

After nearly half a century, I think the non-restored status of the Halifax at Hendon is probably a settled matter. There are two other complete examples in the world (albeit one is a partly original composite) should you wish to see one.

I always found the Hurricane and Halifax very thought provoking exhibits left as they were. Its a huge shame the DO 17 hasnt made it to public view as yet

As far as I am aware the Do17 remains are still at Cosford, not Hendon.
