Can anyone help by telling me for what the acronym NAIRU stands? Apparently it was based at Middle Wallop in 1946. However despite using numerous permutations of words in my search, I can find no online reference to it and all my likely books are silent on the topic.

I have been provided with the answer elsewhere. It appears that NAIRU was a mistranscription for NARIU, the Naval Air Radio Installation Unit which was based at Middle Wallop for about a year between 1945 and 46.
