MH434

I saw a picture of MH434 with a short Carb intake and I wasn’t sure why. Today ‘434 has a large intake. Was it simply just restoration that gave MH434 a large carb intake or was it a wartime upgrade?

There is a picture of ‘434 in ‘Spitfire Survivors ‘ dated 1954 showing the long intake.

She had the large air filter when Sir Aidrian Squire had her so it must have been done late war or during the time she was in Belgium. So pre rebuild.
