I found this panel about 6 years ago and have always wondered what type of aircraft it is off. Is it off a military aircraft and if so what type of aircraft ?. When I first found it in a field local to where I live in Henley on Thames I posted it on a different forum but had no luck with identification.
Kind regards Danny

Hi again,
I’m actually in the U.S. and am an engine and systems guy for one of the airlines here. I’ve spent a good many years working on 757s and 767s.
Cheers,
Scott

Thanks for the information Scott about the Boeing 767 panel. I will keep it safe with the parts from the WW2 Spitfire I recently found. Are you ex Royal air force as I’m an engineer and used to make the parts for the Martin Baker ejector seats that are in military aircrafts.
Best regards Danny.

Hi again, Danny.
Since we’ve retired our 767s I’m no longer able to access the parts catalog, but I thought about that little panel and can definitely tell you that it is located on the lower surface of a slat at the point where two outboard slats meet. The rubber “seal” is a rubstrip that protects the anti-ice duct coupling from chafing. I’ve replaced and rigged the slats often enough that I should have recognized your part sooner……

Thanks for the information about the panel. I knew it was from an aircraft but people I originally showed it to said it was a panel from farm machinery . The part marks , inspectors stamp and quality of the aluminium and fixing where to higher standard for anything else. I look for to finding out more about the panel from your expert knowledge. I’m sorry if I have put it on the wrong forum but I was sure it had come of a military aircraft and not a commercial plane .
Best regards Danny

“When I first found it in a field local to where I live in Henley on Thames ……….”
Does that mean that it fell off a 767 whilst overflying Henley?

It’s from a Boeing 767 but I’ll have to do a little digging on the actual part and it’s location. It looks familiar–I worked on the 767 for many years but I’ll have to dig in the parts catalog to jog my memory.
