Where is NX8836

During the mid 1960s a friend and I were travelling through the village of Mickleton on Gloucestershire when we notices a WW2 RAF  through  gap in the hedge of a chicken farm. Upon investigation we had found the front fuselage section of Hamilcar Glider NX836. in use as a wood store. I understand there were other sections on the farm but we never saw those.

This was reported to the embryo RAF Museum who responded with great interest and I understand they eventually acquired NX836 for the collection but it was put in store. Since then it has slipped off the radar? There is no mention of it in Wrecks and Relics.

My question is, did the RAFM take possession or is it still behind that hedge ?

Two minutes of research; Hamilcar TK 777 front fuselage at Middle Wallop is a composite of TK 718 and NX836.

Hope that helps.
