MB Ejection seat handle – for which seat?

Any ideas which MB seat this would of been used on?

Sea Vixen had a “D” shaped handle, at least initially, so it can’t be that but it might be from a Scimitar. That had a Mk4 seat. I could only find one photo, on the Thunder and Lightnings site, and that looks to have a suitable Head box

BH and cabbage – thanks for the extra information. It was once owned by an ex RN Pilot, so I was trying to see if it had some sort of RN connection. But it would appear not!

I’m not 100 percent sure, but it looks very similar to the face blind handle fitted to a Vulcan’s bang seat. I’m going baack nearly 40 years since I last fitted/removed the seats from a Vulcan, but I seem to remember the connecting wire fed through the top box, over the drouge chute housing cover, and was the connected to the B.T.D.R.U., fitted on top of the main firing gun. This was to prevent the seat from operating, until the canopy had been blown off.

Sorry, took a while to sign in, wouldn’t recognise me.

Yes and no. The handle would fit but I’m not sure about the cable

Thank you for the extra info, BH.

So on that basis, I’m assuming that the Sea Vixen could also be a type that it could of been used in?

All the Mk2 seat I’ve seen had a plug in thype of handle. I’ve seen handles like that, with the “locks” on updated MK3 seats fitted to later Victors, Vulcans and Javelins and Mk4 seats.

Thanks for the response Shorty. In the second photo it’s stamped as Issue 2, MBEU 22098 and has got a date of July 1965 which I had hoped would narrow it down to a particular Mk of seat!

Looks like a MK2 handle. I have seen them fitted to MK3 seats but I think they were incorrect. The MK3 manual shows a different handle. Having said that I have seen a fair few things fitted to aircraft that were different to what I understood to be the standard fitment.
