Hi all.
Can anyone provide leads on a replacement L00809 ‘Boss’ for the U/C Selector Lever?
For three aircraft, all three that we have have suffered the same fate. The part connects the selector lever to the rod that actuates the hydraulic valve to lower/raise the undercarriage. There are 3 rods running parallel. The other two are for the flaps and the speed brake. It seems a case of abuse; too many people taking a sticky-beak in the cockpit, and standing on the rods to get in and out.
See the pictures for details.
Although the control boxes for the single-seater and trainer are very different, this particular part is the same. I don’t know if the part is common to any of the Venom control boxes.
If there is even a single-seater control box out there that someone is prepared to part with at a ‘reasonable price’, that would be helpful; two of our boxes are rather incomplete.
Cheers.

I typed a response, NewQldSpitty, and the forum spat the dummy!
We had a quote that probably would have been resonable – have to go to China otherwise – that would have been about +160% on the NZ item. This was a trade so we both got something out of it.
While all the searching has been time consuming, there have been plenty of benefits. The box mentioned on my 10th April post was a very nicely priced buy with much of it good as back-up for airworthy. Just the boss was broken on that too.
We thought of a built-up repair – cheap on purchased parts but very time consuming in fitting.
Any leads on any parts up your way?

Thanks to new-found friends in NZ, we now have a NOS undercarriage lever boss for Vampire FB.9 R1382.
The problem of broken lugs on these parts remains for A79-175 and A79-733, so looking for two more, but these are further along the queue!
Cheers

Still seeking help on this part. I bought a single-seater control box that is 95% complete about a month ago, but found that the most needed part on it is broken too! Adjacent lug for flaps con rod is also broken. See first photo below.
But I should add that I am perfectly happy that I made the acquisition as apart from three broken parts and a couple of missing bits, it is in very good condition so will be the basis of the control box for Mk.31 A79-733. The control box that I do have that was allocated for that aircraft was missing many bits, has a broken L00809 boss, and includes at least one significant trainer part in lieu of the correct one.
I also got to examine a spare one in a museum collection and found that the needed part is also broken – second photo below. That makes five cases of the broken L00809 boss!
Still looking… !
