Very pleasing to hear that John Romain has been recognised for the excellent fund-raising ( and spirit-raising !) flights in his MKX1 Spitfire.
”John Romain, a former Hawker Siddeley apprentice and BAE aero engineer, who flew a Spitfire over Cambridgeshire bearing the words ‘Thank U NHS’ on Clap for Carers nights, along with his wife Amanda, who helped raise £130,000 for NHS Charities Together, were both awarded MBEs for services to charity and aircraft restoration.” Daily telegraph
Despite the phrasing, we can be fairly sure Amanda did not squeeze into the Spitfire with him ( on those occasions!) . Anyway , well done !

Good that the award was for his services to aircraft restoration as well as for the fundraising. Without some of the specialist companies like ARCO (amongst others) we would have far fewer vintage warbirds flying in the UK.

You saved the worst joke of the year for the very last day !
I am sure we are all Romainers now

I hope it does not upset the Non-Romainers !
Good news for them both and good news for vintage aviation, well done.
