It seems, to me, that there is a potential gap in its provenance. It is a propeller from a Heinkel III that is said to have been fished out of the sea in what is said to be the vicinity of the crash of a Heinkel III that was shot down by Gibson. I don’t see how that makes it the propeller of the Heinkel III shot down by Gibson. And even if it is, why should that make it more important or valuable than any other Heinkel III propeller – other than to the vendor and the auctioneer, who have a vested interest in enhancing its sale price!

I only caught the end of the programme but the basis for the positive ident was the location it was found and the known aircraft lost in that area.

That is / was owned by Drew Pritchard of Salvage Hunters fame. The prop stand was fabricated by an extremely clever guy as part of a programme called I think Salvage Hunters – The Restorers.

The provenance of the propeller was given to his wife by the RAF Museum IIRC.
