Sir Keith Park Memorial Airfield Project Thames New Zealand.

Celebrations are under way in Thames NZ to celebrate the towns famous son Air Chief Marshall Keith Rodney Park who was born at Totara Thames June 1892  The  installation of a full size replica of the Hawker Hurricane fighter with the personalised code OK1  that  Sir Keith used to help direct the succesful outcome of the Battle of Britain within 11 Group  will take place September 12th ,13th.  The celebrations also coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

OK 1  (P3854)  ( AKA GB Replica)  was installed on her pylons today Wednesday 10th Sept and looks splendid !  It truly makes an excellent “gate guardian” for the Thames  Airfield.
