Imperial War Museums including Duxford

Imperial War Museums including Duxford

NEWS JUST IN
WE’RE REOPENING!

PLAN A VISIT
WITH PRIORITY BOOKING FOR MEMBERS
We’re delighted to tell you that this August, four of our five museums will be open again and we wanted our members to be the first to know and the first to book! We can’t wait to welcome you back.

We’re so grateful for your continued support during our closure. From engaging with our digital content to your positive comments, we really appreciate your understanding throughout these challenging times.

From 1 August, IWM London, IWM North, IWM Duxford and Churchill War Rooms will reopen. The safety of our members, visitors, staff and volunteers is our priority, so we have made a number of changes to ensure your visit is safe and enjoyable.

One key change is that we will be limiting the number of people that can visit, to give you even more space to safely explore the fascinating stories housed in our museums. This means you’ll need to book a timed ticket before visiting. As a thank you to our members, we are giving you priority access to book tickets from today, in advance of tickets being released to the general public on Wednesday 15 July.

Visitors returning to IWM London will be welcomed back by a brand new addition to the museum’s iconic atrium – a commission from the internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei, titled History of Bombs.

Covering over 1,000 square feet, Ai Weiwei’s takeover of the museum’s atrium is the first time that the space has been given over in its entirety to an artist. Click here to find out more.

If you have any questions about booking your tickets, please contact membership@iwm.org.uk or call 0207 091 3000 and our membership team will be happy to help.

We are thrilled to be able to welcome you back. Read on to find out more about our museums and to book your timed tickets.

WHAT ABOUT HMS BELFAST?
HMS Belfast is a unique space which is mostly unaltered since its operational days. Visitors climb ladders, walk through narrow corridors and small rooms. Therefore it is currently not possible for visitors to adequately socially distance. We will assess this regularly and hope to welcome you on board soon.

It’s some time since I posted here, and this may have been mentioned before ?

I have just booked to go to Duxford on the 17th September, just before the airshow.

Our membership expires at the end of July, but membership has been extended for

the period of  time IWM sites have been closed.  Apparently this is not automatic, and

you need to contact IWM  membership, who will send you a covering letter which you

will need to present on entry.
