Thameside Aviation Museum closed and cleared

Update March 200. 

Good morning one and all, thank you for all the kind messages texts emails received regarding closure of the ‘Thameside Aviation Collection’ we are ongoing with removing artifacts and cataloging everything as removed and packed, it’s still going to be a few months work yet. Contrary to rumours we are not selling the collection off all the historic item are going into storage for the foreseeable future and the non display items some are being kept but most disposed of but again mostly at a later date. The Few items loaned to is will be returned to the original owners, not really many but already parts have been returned.

As stated before we hoped to open in 2020 for the Battle of Britain 80th anniversary and at the end of 2020 we had all ready decided to close  as we are all to old now oldest being 86, 67, 63 i think due to Covid19 it would of been impossible to open this year anyway

Yes he has a fair bit of Whitley, this is safe and sound and can be moved at a later date,  I believe he is otherwise engaged at the moment. 

Didn’t the Whitley Project have an exhibit within the Thameside Aviation Museum

Update.

Today was the final AGM of The Coalhouse Fort Project and charity that has been running the day to day workings and upkeep of Coalhouse Fort.

This is very sad to read, as i would visit the Thameside aviation museum at least once a year a fantastic display that tells the human side and courage of WW2 aviation. 

I just hope that the collection if sold ends up in another museums collection, lets just hope that the museum can still be saved.

It’s very sad, we have been at the same place since 1984 and getting all the bits together since 1973 with two original members from 73 .

Age has now caught up with us.

Sad news to hear, lets hope the future improves for the museum. Its always sad when a museum has to sell off its collection, fingers crossed its not the case here.
