I would like to know the real identity of this aircraft. It is marked up as D-EFAG, but its real identity I have seen as quoted as D-AECS and D-EOAR, also its present whereabouts. Is it still on the viewing gallery.

Bob Ogden in the reference book ‘Aviation Museums and Collections of Mainland Europe’ (Air Britain 2006), entry for this aircraft is:
Nord 1002 Pingouin II, construction number 163. Previous identities: 163 (military serial, but no Air Force noted), HB-OAR, (D-EHUX ntu), HB-OAR, D-EOAR, (D-EACS ntu), ‘D-EFAG’ false identity. Status code PVX: public view with a false identity.
Adds little, but with the information that some registrations were ntu (not taken up), the question in the opening post may well be answered.

Thank you, Laurence. Irritatingly, I no longer have my notes covering the period July 1974 – September 1975.

avion: I’m not sure about 1975 as I have no record then. There was a thread on this very same Key Forum started by Jetflap 28.12.2009. I’ll try a link to it:

I wonder if it will work.
This was the collection sited both in the terminal and on the terrace outside. I see I ventured some identities at that time.
On 6.5.1979 in the terminal I noted, apart from the Nord 1002: Hütter 17a, Ju52/3m D-CIAS, Me163 “54”, Me262, Rhönbaby.

Laurence, were they there in 1975? I visited Frankfurt that summer and seem to recollect seeing a collection of vintage aeroplanes displayed on the public terrace of the airport. I also remember attracting the attention of die polizei as I worked my way along the fence to the GA area of the airport. They didn’t seem to understand the concept of ‘plane spotting!

I saw the Nord 1002 on display in Frankfurt terminal in May 1979. I did not see any identity on it. There were 6 aircraft in all.

http://axis.classicwings.com/ gives it as Nord 1002 c/n 163 ‘D-EFAG’ and previously HB-OAR, D-EHUX, D-EAOR,D-EACS formerly at Frankfurt (where I saw it) and Berlin.
