Meteor Part to ID Please

This section of Meteor was found several years ago by woodsmen near the crash site of a pair of 43 Sqn Meteor F4s (VT238 & VT276). So far it has defied identification and unhelpfully seems to have no numbers stamped anywhere on it. There is a Meteor of the same vintage at Tangmere but they are understandably reluctant to let us take it apart! Probably not undercarriage but air brakes perhaps? Hopefully there’s some Meteor experts out there who will ID it straight away.

Thanks very much for your help. All this time I had assessed that it was mounted along the aircraft’s longitudinal axis, never thinking it might be on the horizontal. Hopefully the part will go on display at the Tangmere Museum in due course now that it has been positively identified. A fitting final resting place for it.

It’s the main spar connection for the outer wing panel located just outboard of the engine nacelles. In the first picture the section on the RH side with the channel shaped bracket is from the outer wing spar, the LH piece is built in to the centre section.

Anon.

Looks like outer wing panel (upper or lower) attach bolt + inner and outer spar.
