KLM 747 into preservation

In other news, a 1989 KLM 747-400 series (PH-BFB) is going into outdoor preservation in Amsterdam. Its new home is in a hotel garden near Amsterdam airport.

Moving it will be interesting, with a night closure of a major highway.

And it’s not the first KLM one either. A 1978 example went to the Aviodrome museum at Lelystad in 2004. Another 400-series – or rather the front half of the fuselage – is sitting across the street from here in a school… Hardly preservation, but good use for a tired airframe!

As you probably kniw, there is a 747 at the water park adjacent to the Evergreen air museum in Oregon.

And if you think the 747 is new for a museum display, the Pima Air Museum in Tucson, Arizona has a 777 and a 787 ( a prototype).

The one at Speyer in Germany is well maintained.
