Just an enquiry from me. Is it still there or has it moved on?
If still there, what’s the current state?

Moggy, there’s an article in the May 2005 edition of Aeroplane that outlines the situation with respect to the Tempest and IL2 projects. This was when they were at previous Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire locations respectively. That also touches on the IL2 restoration for the RAFM as well.
If you’re unable to get hold of a copy please let me know and I’ll see if I can assist! 🙂

Thanks to all who have contributed. Inbox now emptied.
If the restoration was for the RAFM do we then assume non-flying?
So there are two, one languishing in the weeds on the airfield and a second in better state progressing towards a full, but non-flying restoration, currently off the field. Do I have this correct?

Is this the one supposedly being restored for the RAF museum? Doesn’t the owners also have a T-6 on rebuild at Hibaldstow?

I tried to PM you Moggy but think your inbox is full!? The part restored one is off site and on private land which would be very hard to get a good photo without being a real nosey git so I hope there are no pics on facebook ( any links )? The rest is as it has been for years……….I’m not the owner but I know him well and he keeps his toys out of the public eye so thought an update might stop people trying to go and look!

What became of the 2nd IL2 that was stored there for a time, but later moved for restoration? I believe that’s it in one of the pictures above.

I’ve recently seen a pic from Wickenby on FB that I think is current, unfortunately it shows it sat outside uncovered in the undergrowth next to what looks like a deralict building.
