Until this week it was possible to access, on the French DGAC website, historical data about the ownership of aircraft that are and have been registered on the French CDN, CDNR and CNRA registers (i.e. those registered F-B###, F-C###, F-G###, F-H### and F-P###). The data available was the names and addresses of all previous owners and the dates on which the aircraft were registered to them. Now, in respect of aircraft that have been deregistered, no such data whatsoever is available and in respect of aircraft currently registered, only data relating to the current owner is available. The reason given for this change is compliance with French and European data control legislation. I understand that this is a road down which Germany had already gone. Brexit or no brexit, I suggest that those who use G-INFO, on the CAA website, might want to download and store, either on their PCs or manually, the historical data currently available whilst it is still available – before the UK decides to apply data control legislation in similar fashion and deny access to aircraft historical data on the CAA website

So it looks as if not even brexit will remove the risk of historical aircraft registration data being removed from the CAA website if the Germans and French have correctly interpreted and applied the data protection rules and the UK either chooses or is compelled to go down the same road.

The DPA 2018 maintains regulatory alignment with GDPR. So post Brexit there will be no noticeable change.

The UK implementation of the Data Protection directive (general data Protection Regulations) will go past Brexit

Exactly, PM. The DGAC website makes accessible the names and addresses of current owners/operators. What has disappeared therefrom, for data regulation reasons, is the information that was there concerning previous owners/operators, i.e. the historical material.

HP111…………
That only says the CAA have to maintain a register of current owners. AA is concerned that we could loose access to historical data.

By way of illustration, if you search the DGAC website against F-BACL, a Caudron C.455 Goéland deregistered on 3 November 1951, the following is what you now get instead of the list of previous owners, their addresses and their dates of registration which formerly was accessible:
