Darling Lili query

I’m sure I read somewhere that some large aircraft was mocked up to resemble a Gotha bomber for the movie, “Darling lili.” I have the novelisation which features one, and that is involved in a scenario that closely resembles the climax to ” Hell’s Angels”, with some embellishment. Does anyone know if this story is true? If so, then it just might mean that the book as written was based on an early version of the script.
