Has anybody sighted the original 1919 British Register, believed to be in the form of a ledger? There are latter day transcripts but I need to know how the original was composed.
An image of a single page may be all I need. Any leads much appreciated.

At the risk of stating the obvious, have you made enquiries of the CAA and/or of the National Archives?
Not yet. I was hoping that someone might have trodden that path before me. It might be a bit of a challenge from the Antipodes.
Cheers

Thanks to everyone who has responded.
by way of clarification do you mean the K-### register (1 May – 22 July) and/or the G-E### register (22 July onward)?
I will be happy to see an example of either.
The record cards for the early G-EA## registrations are available on the web and these are stamped as follows:
“THIS ENTRY COPIED on 1st JANUARY, 1939, From FORMER REGISTER”.
This would appear to mark a transition from a ledger to a card system. What I need is an example of a page from the original ledger. I don’t need a list of registrations as these are readily available. What I need is the layout and composition of the original registration ledger.

If you go to the CAA’s GINFO site and search for an aircraft from that date (for example G-EAAA) there is a link to scan of the relevant page(s) from the register like this : G-EAAA.pdf
However, having looked at it more carefully, it is a 1939 entry copy of the entry from the original so probably is not what you want.

Whilst regrettably I cannot assist you, by way of clarification do you mean the K-### register (1 May – 22 July) and/or the G-E### register (22 July onward)?
