'Black Hawk Down' 25 Years Ago Tonight!

Does that make it historic?

Entirely by coincidence I was watching the excellent film ‘Black Hawk Down’ tonight.

The type certainly qualifies as historic…ff.1974…some 44 years ago.
2019 will mark its 40th year in service. A youngster compared to the Bell Hueys and Boeing/Vertol (Piasecki) Chinooks, and the H-53 family…all of which remain in service.

There is a fantastic documentary about the recovery of one of the Black Hawks think it’s Durant’s Super 61 a couple of years ago surprising how much was left after they blew it up.

unfortunately the film had too big a story to tell in not enough time so things were changed if you have the DVD I recommend the veterans commentary as they are insightful but don’t hold back on the changes, definitely recommend Mark Bowdens book as he did his homework for it.
