I’ve just been sent photos of a prop that needs to be identified. Origin appears to be from the Hampshire Aero Club. I can’t give diameter at this point but the photo should give some clue. I read the number on the hub as V690/1
Thanks

Thanks Anne, just what I was looking for. Misreading the Y as a V explains why I only found one vague reference.
Ex Brat, I queried DH86 as I was unaware that any aero club flew 4-engined airliners. You live and learn

Not V690/1 but if you look carefully you’’ll notice it’s actually Y690/1 which gives you a Genet Major Powered Avro Avian.
As I created the table linked above (and I could get a bit miffed if I wanted to as it’s credited to someone else) I can tell you that the information comes from Air Ministry Orders and more specifically props to be withdrawn from use.

Yes, but only found one reference, without explanation, so thought it best to check with the experts here

Have you googled in the search field the words ‘V690/1 Propeller’ There is one entry which comes back to a Genet Major propeller.
There is a Armstrong Siddleley Genet Major engine and if you Google this it list the types of aircraft this engine was fitted too.

Does the prop have any other numbers inscribed?
There is a very good wooden propeller website who have produced a list of propeller numbers but I cannot see V690/1 within this list. DH86 props are listed though but do not carry the number you have shown. Site link as follows:

Interesting, what makes you suggest DH86?
