Seems very Windows 95. Is this a temporary setup?

I see some unblocking of the plumbing is happening – fingers crossed.

I did notice it was closed for maintenance earlier and is for the moment better ,lets hope it keeps getting better.

I wouldn’t go as far as very quickly but it’s certainly less slow.
A substantial improvement but still not where, IMO, it should be – or even used to be before the update.

It does suddenly appear to have had a damn good boot up the jetpipe, since I posted in the Meteor thread this morning…

For the first time for a long time, all seems to be well.
I’ve been able to access all pages very quickly. A chunk of text that was missing from one of my comments has, like the Prodigal Son, joyfully returned.
From my ancient steam operated system all seems to be working.

Aside from the painfully slow loading, the Forum seems to have lost something. It used to be a vibrant place with dozens of posts each day, now it seems to be withering away with people no longer posting updates as regularly 🙁
…this is very much my observation as well. Numerous people have already voted with their feet. Posting messages has become a pain… 😡
Visitor counts are also plummeting.
that forum software issues can rapidly kill a forum.
I’ve seen it happen before, and it seems to be happening before our eyes now.
It indeed IS happening now… 🙁 :apologetic:

It has become so painfully slow that I rarely linger too long,

Totally agree Nachtjage Its not worth visiting or being on here anymore! Shame on the person that changed it!

I regularly read, but am not a member of, an F1 forum where the members more often than not quote the post above their own. The entire post, even if it’s half a page and includes videos or photographs, they quote the lot.
Many of them are obviously well educated and knowledgeable but as far as common sense is concerned – it’s about amoeba level.
I would have lost patience by now…

Well, according to the thread index the Biggin Hill Messerschmitt has flown again – twice! Anyway, I’m done with it. I doubt I’ve added anything of great value to this forum over the years but I’m off elsewhere. (I assume this will post tomorrow evening!)

Some 7 weeks ago I was ridculed by ‘Aviart’ for suggesting that forum software issues can rapidly kill a forum.
I’ve seen it happen before, and it seems to be happening before our eyes now.
If I was an advertiser here, I’d have pulled my ad, and its fees.
What on earth is going on??

The ridiculous over usage of the quote facility bugged me too and not having it is an inconvenience.
An inconvenience !!!!!??????
You Sir are a master of understatement 🙂
My point is though – the other 5 Forums I am on do not have a problem with people ‘overusing’ the quote facility, those forums are not slowed down/clogged up with ‘quotes’ .
The quote facility on here is an obsession with somebody – Webbie usually gets the blame but who knows LOL.

I’ve just had to refresh the page 3 times to actually get anything to appear at all.
The ridiculous over usage of the quote facility bugged me too and not having it is an inconvenience.
However, “we” had been asked many times not to do it before they finally lost patience.
On current form, I expect this will appear mid-morning tomorrow.

Fuck it, I’m done. This is beyond a goddamn joke.

The meaningless and pointless “is on a distinguished road“, “will become famous soon enough” or “has a spectacular aura about” (WTH?) titles/bar icon below the usernames is a vital function of the forum – the “Reputation” ranking of members.
Really, really important – much more so than having a working search function…

Also what is the point of the silly ‘Bars’ under the users Forum Ranking ??????? obviously a very important part of the forum – even though the forum itself is completely forked.

PLEEAAAASE FIX THIS FORUM ,it multi posts when it does sort of work ,it takes ages to load and it is a pain to use .If you want to kill off a forum this is going the right way about it. 🙁

Kermits Tempest thread shows 0 replies, there’s actually 7 posts…

The whole thing is a bag of spanners. Painfully slow to load, if it loads at all, the details of the last poster are consistently wrong so the view statistics must be in doubt. It’s certainly not tablet friendly if that was the intent. Sadly I think it may have driven away some of the more knowledgeable and regular posters. As ZRX61 says, other similar forums do not appear to suffer these issues.
