Guys – its early days, and there will be changes made – there are issues for us as moderators too, and Webby is ironing them out as he goes.

This is something like the fourth iteration of this forum, and every time it has changed in the past we have had the same complaints. That there was to be a revamp was known, and had been discussed in a number of threads, although the timing wasn’t.

It has changed owing to security issues with the previous forum software. For that reason alone, it wont be changing back. It was broke, so it has been fixed..!

Please note that there is a separate sub forum for you to bring up issues with the forum – which is more likely to get the webmasters attention.

This is the third forum of which I am a member that has changed its format this year because of the obsolescence of the previous format. In all cases the problems were apparent before the change and I have had no difficulty in adjusting. As I have said previously, give it another 2 months and we will have forgotten what the previous one was like.

Well, that’s old news. I have the “.co.uk” addy in my archive and it doesn’t work but if I recall correctly, the “.com” addy has been around for years!

As English is not my native language, I had to go google on that expression. I found “slack” to mean “having or showing laziness or negligence” but in this case, who is (are) the lazy one(s)?

I hope that it is not misspelt and should read “slackass” which would mean “a lazy person who expects things to be done for them; a hybrid of a slacker and a jackass” because that would be impertinent and uncalled for!

Dave,

According to the wise sages here, you have to pay if you want a decent, user-friendly forum. That’s despite there being plenty of other similar forums (fora?) which ask/inform before changing things and require no fee! And they have quote functions too. And they don’t ignore their users.

It would be nice if the forum Admins sent out an email to all members telling them the domain has changed and to update the bookmarks, because those folks trying to get in with their bookmarks are not actually reading this thread, they are just getting a security warning, so have no idea it needs to be updated to a different url. I was bewildered till I found out from a friend that they’d changed their domain. Surely everyone should have been notified? Slack as.

This forum is also the only one I have seen that does not seem to have the facility to quote from a previous post, which is incredibly backwards and frustrating.

I wonder if the search engine which has been broken and ignored for about six years will now actually work?

As a matter of interest, when and where was the last time that anybody paid to participate in a discussion forum? I can’t think of any where you have to pay to participate

It’s a cleaner look, layout easier to use. And it’s free.

So the forum has changed. If you were paying a subscription to it then I can understand the spitting out dummies and throwing toys out of the pram bit but you’re getting access to it for free and Key can just as easily pull it what with all the problems it’s had recently.

The security certificate issue is due to people linking to the (old) .co.uk site. If you have stored links, bookmarks, favourites with that variant, please update them to the .com version and all will be well.

And this has got to do with Historic Aviation What?

Something wrong with your Security Certificates as well as Firefox doesnt want to connect to you unless overridden.
