Is a PA-18 Super Cub a high wing, yes/no!

Not this one! N101SC is a midwing. Built originally normal in 1957, the plane was involved in an accident and rebuilt in 1962 and again in 2016 with the wing in the centre. The full story can be found in the June edition of ‘Sport Aviation’ the EAA magazine.

So did Mr Piper – we’ll sort of. The Pawnee wing is basically that of a Cub.

As are the tail surfaces.

The Indonesians went lower still with the NU-90 Belalang – effectively a low wing Piper Cub!

Interesting conversion! A shame that the classic ‘Cub’ tail has been changed as that would help with recognising it as a Cub conversion.
