Moggy – can I correct you. ‘Plane Sailing’ has not “launched an appeal for a replacement engine”. We have one and it is already installed as per DaveB’s observation above. A shakedown flight is due tomorrow. What we have done is invited people to help defray the cost of the engine changeover and repairs to the faulty engine by joining the Catalina Society and at the same time reaping the benefits of membership. You also say that (regarding our attendance at the DX September show) “the Catalina has to be in doubt”. The team of dedicated volunteers that work on the Catalina under the supervision of our engineer Garry Short have worked very hard indeed to ensure that we missed the minimum number of shows due to the recent engine change. We are booked for a show in France this weekend so, barring any unforeseen circumstances, Duxford in September should not be a problem.

would also hope that no ground crew are stood next to my Hurricane when the command “flood the cowling” is given.

(not that I own a Hurricane btw)

Hey I just had a thought, now they could recreate the opening of the BoB film ! the French Chateau where the 109’s (Buchons) manage to strafe the airfield even building the Chateau again 1968/2018 !!!

Fabulous idea 😀

Don’t think though the CAA would be too keen on a repeat of the grass cutting altitude flown by a couple of the Buchons in that sequence back then 😉

His last display will be the Shuttleworth Race Day in October, in the P-51.

BrizeWatcher,
I hope they do have them! I’m not into the new aviation scene much prefer V12s but every now and again I dont mind seeing the new stuff!
DragonRapide,
I’ve only seen his Hurribomber at Duxford in the last few years! Heard they had a falling out a while ago? It will be his last display maybe as he’s retiring at the end of the season

R4118,

I’ve heard something similar, wouldn’t be surprised to see a number of modern assets attend.

Nice to see PT on the list – two PRXIs!

Peter doesn’t often display at Duxford, does he?

Heard from someone at RAF Cosford that the RAF are going all out for this show as it’s the last official RAF100 airshow so they want to make it a special one! Wouldn’t be surprised to.see more RAF types added for flypasts like we had at Cosford
