Ray Hanna/Spitfire MH434

With the article on MH434 in Flypast recently, I wondered if anyone has or knows of a photo of Ray Hanna in the Christie’s auction tent ( 1983 ),when he put the winning bid in for her. Bit of a long shot I know but thought it worth asking, I was there at the time and remembered the excitement it caused so perhaps someone recorded it? Thanks in advance.

The other Spit was AR213, KurtB, and in answer to your question Propstrike I honestly don’t know but he or a representative bought the ex Skyfame Museum Hawker Tempest 11 prototype that was there too.

I remember THAT picture so well, did it get onto the cover of Aeroplane Monthly? Which was the other Spit?

Was Kermit Weeks present ? He certainly bought the Mosquito, of course, for a mere £100,000 ( as I recall ) .

Yes quite something to see, drove up in a Fiat 131 Mirafiori (not many of these around now ),with my brother, The display was great before the sale and the other bonus was seeing Patrick Lindsay’s Spitfire G-AIST there as well. I think Ray Hannah was a couple of rows behind us when he was bidding. I’ve got my catalogue with most of the prices in too
