I started a thread a few years ago to identify some wreckage from the UAE desert. We were able to pin it down to Blenheim V (Bisley) BA101 of 244 Squadron from Sharjah which crashed near Dhaid on 1 February 1943, with five on board of whom three died.
My friends in the desert have just sent me a picture of another piece from the wreckage site. I am not an expert on data plates, so I hope someone here can help. I see drawing number 141200/12, but then there is no date. I suppose “INS.STAMP.” is “inspection” but what are the two stamped logos? Just at the top the bend hides what I take to be the serial number that starts with ? RZ.
I have asked my friends to send me a photo of the whole piece and also of the serial viewed so it can be read.
Thanks for your advice

Thanks Brian. Also from our earlier exchange there is little doubt that this is Bisley (Blenheim V) BA101, but I appreciate your input. Any idea of what any of the bits are? I think there is a rib (with the holes) perhaps from a control surface. I compared it with a cutaway.

Laurence the R2 was the stamp for Rootes and from memory they only made Blenheim’s, Beaus and Halifax so likelihood is Blenheim.
from a website
Shadow factory at Speke built Hadley Page Halifax and Blenheim bombers and transport aircraft for the war effort. Another shadow factory at Blythe Bridge built Blenheim and Beaufighter planes. During WWII Rootes built 1 in 7 of all bombers,

Just bumping this post up a bit to see if anyone can confirm that the pieces in the photo in my post 5 are indeed Blenheim/Bisley. Thanks

I received some more photos of pieces from the presumed crash site of Bisley BA101 in the UAE. There are some more 14nnnn and R2 stamps. Any ideas about what the pieces actually are? Are those components with round holes tailplane ribs? Thanks.

Thanks Brian. That’s R2 then! Confirms that it’s a bit more of BA101. The remains are now with the Sharjah Museum, and there is discussion about a formal memorial to the lost crew members.

Laurence the Bisley was made by Rootes so the inspector stamps should read R2 then a number below in the circles. That is what I see in the inspectors stamps.
