This Harrier is also no ordinary jet, XV471 was a race winner.
In 1969 the Daily Mail put on a race from the GPO tower to the Empire State Building, or vice versa, to commemorate the transatlantic flight in 1919 by Alcock and Brown.
So she took off from a disused coalfield outside St Pancras and made it to the empire state building in 6hrs 11mins and 57 seconds.

It could always come to NELSAM in Sunderland where from the end of June there is space to put it under cover as our Whirlwind, Wessex and Dragonfly are moving into the newly extended Romney.

Whatever happened to the Beaujolais nouveau race each year that was always a big thing and in the news?
Seem to recall a Harrier was used for that one year.

Think Hendon’s GR3 is currently on tour for the RAF 100th and has been replaced with the 1 sqn GR9 from Cosford.
The photos of the XV741 refurbishment look good, think it was finished in the paint shop at RAF Marham.
Guess it depends if the current owner looking to sell or loan the aircraft to another collection.
For my money either Coventry or Newark would be good homes, although both have late mark Sea Harriers, a GR1 would be great. Sadly I doubt either collection could offer under cover display.

Please hold back from suggesting the RAF museum, they have storage packed with donations which will never be on public display. Far better donate or loan items to the many smaller museums.( unless it is an item for a specific restoration due to be put on display)
The Harrier is at the moment well represented in UK aviation museums. How about being undercover at Gaydon. former RAF base in the company of many record breakers here….? https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/

As there’s a Boscombe Down connection, what about the BDAC museum at Old Sarum? Anyone there interested?

The other one?
Did two compete then, and did both finish?

The other one is at Tangmere in GR.3 guise. I recall probably 741 as a tatty GR.3 on the OCU at Wittering with an air race script on her reb covers
