The latest Buchon rebuild, G-AWHM/Yellow 7, from Air Leasing got the wind beneath her wings today.
Richard Grace did the honours, with Pete Kynsey flying her again later on in the day.
I’m sure there will be photos to follow….!

Sywell’s 2 seater Buchon, Yellow 7, flying legends G-AWHK and a couple of Spits. That would be a hell of a photo opp’ to mark 50 years since the filming of “Battle of Britain”.
And thanks to Mark12 for sharing that fine shot of the original ’68 Yellow 7.

It was a good idea when they made the film – however, the struts had a tendency to fall off occasionally!

Have any of the owners thought about fitting the struts under the tail planes of their Buchons if they are to represent an Emil ?.

Just reporting what someone on their way to Santa Pod this morning said as it flew low over. They are quite into WW2 era aircraft and ‘should’ know a P-47, and did describe the red-/white checkered cowl having seen photos online…??
Are there any Harvards around with red/white cowls…?

‘Nellie’ has been spotted in the air this morning as well, don’t know if that’s its first flight since arriving back in the UK or not…..?

Not that I know of, Paul. I’m sure the parties involved will never say as such, since it is registered as WkNr.462707 (D-FMGV) and they wouldn’t want to compromise that. Through process of elimination (for a project that supposedly only took a year or less to do) I’m confident that it is the former G-AWHE – there isn’t any other possible way they could have come to such a result in such a short period of time (I’ve figured too, that the firewall-forward section on the “G-14” is actually probably what was on their “G-12”). I’m still waiting to see if any more gets posted here that might substantiate the origins, though then again I doubt there will be (or it won’t provide any clear answers): http://www.rarebird.eu/projects_Me-109.html Even though it carries the data plate ID of WkNr.462707, of course it has already been confirmed that it is an entirely different airframe than the static/display-only one that Hangar10 had some years ago with the exact same identity attached (which was reportedly sold on without an identity).

For those who may have missed it, the Hangar10/Air Fighter Academy Bf-109G-6 (D-FMGS), that was completed by MeierMotors a couple years ago, also made its first test flight last week (with a few more flights since).
There are a number of photos on their FB page.
Thanks for the HU and links John.
Has it been confirmed/established if the Hangar 10/Air Fighter Academy ‘G-14’ is actually the ex Richard Lake/Spitfire Limited Buchon G-AWHE, as has been suggested?
Cheers
