Hi all
Looking through Bill Gunston’s book of 1980, I came across a Hawk with light grey undersides instead of the usual wrap-around camouflage. No number on the tail fin.
Please has anyone any pics of this a/c?
Thanks in anticipation.

Looks like it, hadn’t noticed that before – it certainly had it before and after (that looks like a borrowed nose cone)
I have a better shot of the zap somewhere

Thanks Dave
I know it’s off topic but is XV281 lacking a side facing nose recon camera?
Grateful if anyone can post an A Sqn AAEE zap.

It looks like the A Squiadron AAEE zap, also seen on some early Harriers

Yes Rogier, but Iād need to see it on my laptop to tell you more. Normally applied by ground crew of other squadrons.

A sort of ‘tag’ (in modern slang) cut out of dayglo, adhesive material in the shape of smthng or other?

Looks like a zap on the fin. ā156 was the first Hawk I flew in, lovely jet.

XX156 (2nd build Hawk) was the only Hawk I remember having that camo scheme – happy to be proved wrong of course :).
I do not think was ever based at Brawdy but could have been doing trials work there perhaps ??
If you google XX156 there are quite a few images of it wearing that scheme on the net
