Didnt Marion have a set of Barracuda fishtails modified by Avspec to suit her?

Wonderful stuff! I was about 12 or 13 when this Spitfire started its rebuild, so it’s been down an out most of the time I’ve been attending airshows, and I’ve never seen it fly. Bring on the summer!

She had the six-stub setup in 2000 for the filming of Pearl Harbor. Also, at some point, she was fitted with them prior to going to Loughborough College, so technically they ARE authentic to her…..

They do have a set of unserviceable 3-a-side exhausts, I believe quotes were obtained to make new but this came at significant costs, more than the collection were willing to spend. Instead it’s got NOS stubs. If people feel so strongly that it should have the 3 stacks, probably best start putting donations in to the collection.

That would be nice Roobarb. Old stable mates. I must dig out my pix of 983 at the DEC Schneider Trophy air race.

Be nice to see her do a formation air-to-air shoot with PL983 at some point in the future.

I’ve wondered that since I was a child, I can only guess they haven’t any?

Great news. She is looking great. One question though – does anyone know why she has the six exhaust stubs fitted per side instead of the 3 a side a mk V would normally have?

Fantastic news!
A big tip of the hat to all involved in the overhaul.
It’s been awhile, but it will be nice to see it gracing the skies above Old Warden (and hopefully Duxford) again.
Cheers

Fantastic, clipped wings and all, just ten years to wait with a bit of hard use to get the patination back to how it was. My favourite aeroplane.
