Hi,
Are there any restored flying or ground running Ju52s with the Bramo Fafnir 323 engines that was an engine option for them ?
Would love to hear them.
If anyone has a recording without other noise such as wind etc., even better.

Slight thread drift, but I remember Jeff Hawke having a Ju-52. Saw it at West Malling in about 1983.

52’s never used 323 AFAIK. I guess it was due to excessive fuel consumption (thus the Do 17P also did not use 323).
Do 24, Fw 200, those used 323, but of course none of those are flying.

There only seven airworthy Ju 52, only the three in Switzerland have BMW engines and those are BMW 132 according to JU Air’s website.
No Bramo Fafnir 323’s then running on Ju52’s.
Anything else with a 323 running I wonder ?

According to Ju-Air’s homepage, HB-HOY was been retired from flying in 2016.

There only seven airworthy Ju 52, only the three in Switzerland have BMW engines and those are BMW 132 according to JU Air’s website.
I count eight if you include the SAA Museum’s ZS-AFA (which also has R1340’s), although it hasn’t flown much in recent years as far as I know. The list would be:
HB-HOP/HOT/HOS, the three original Ju52’s with Ju-Air
HB-HOY CASA 352 also flown by JuAir
D-CDLH “D-AQUI” Ju52 re-engined with 1340’s, operated by Lufthansa Stiftung
F-AZJU CASA 352 owned by Salis
N352JU the ex-CAF one now owned by Yeagen and flown with 1340’s
ZS-AFA CASA 352 SAA Museum, also 1340 powered

Yes, Matt is correct. The R-2600 engine is a large, 14-cylinder two-row radial – far too big and powerful for the Ju-52. Whatever the type of engine the ’52 used it was always a single-row engine in the 450-600 h.p. class.

B-25s flew with Wrights, R2600s, The Ju-52 Caiden had has 3 Pratt & Whitney R-1340s, same as a T-6, Yagens Ju-52 is flying with 3 geared R-1340s swinging 3 bladed props.

I thought they flew with R-1340AN engine, 600 HP same as in Harvards single row 9 cylinders

The ex-USA Martin Cadin Lufthansa example has P&Ws, (the type used on B-25s, IIRC), and Yagen’s CASA in Virginia also flies with P&Ws.
