Captain Christopher Orlebar 1945-2018

Haven’t seen any mention of this yet, but on 24th February Chris Orlebar passed away, aged 73. I understand that visitors to his flight deck often had the opportunity to purchase his Concorde book there and then, signature included ;). Apart from being a Concorde expert, he was also passionate about the VC10 and he spoke about flying the type at the 50th anniversary of the prototype’s first flight and he was present for ZA150’s last landing. A great character and a gentleman.

A sad loss. I’ve met Chris a number of times and always found him excellent.

RIP = John

Sad to hear this, I never had the chance to meet him but he always seemed a true old fashioned gent and a very enthusiastic character. He was of course a relative of A. H. Orlebar of Schneider Trophy fame, a fact which inspired his career path.
